Bespoke CMS development

A CMS, or content management system, is where your team edits the website. We build ours around how you work, so updating the site is quick and nobody dreads it.

Why we use Sanity

We've worked with many CMS platforms over the years, and Sanity is our favourite. It's secure, because your content sits on a separate server from the public site. It's easy to edit, with previews before you publish. And updates, backups and security are handled by Sanity, so there's no plugin upkeep. Most clients are comfortable with it in the first 10 minutes.

We're honest about the trade-offs too. Sanity isn't free, and some setups cost more than others, so we'll talk through what you need and demo it before you decide.

The block system

Pages are built from blocks. A block is a ready-made section, such as a hero, a pricing table or a testimonial, with its own fields to fill in. Editors pick blocks, fill them in and reorder them to build new pages without a developer. New blocks can be added as the site grows, and existing ones reused or extended.

Several sites, one CMS

A family of websites can run from a single CMS. Each site gets its own look, navigation and content, while sharing blocks and articles where it makes sense. Setting up a new site becomes a small job, not a new project.

Different access for different people

Not everyone needs the keys to everything. We set up roles so some editors can manage the whole platform while others only see the content they look after. For My Top Schools, we went further and built a custom admin system. The client has a super admin view, and every school has its own area to manage its page.

Training

There's a training session before launch, though it rarely takes long. We usually save the last few pages of content to add together, so your team learns by doing.
