Architectural Grille has been making custom grilles and decorative metalwork in Brooklyn since 1945. It's a family business, now in its third generation.
They came to us for a new website. Once we got started, we could see there was a lot more to gain. Like many long-established businesses, ArchGrille had built up plenty of manual processes over the years, and the website was the right place to fix some of them. So a redesign grew into something bigger: a new site, a joined-up technical setup, a 3D visualiser and a much smarter way to request a quote.
The old site was dated, with a quirky design that didn't suit ArchGrille's core customers: building contractors who need the right information fast. Our redesign is still good-looking, but more technical and much quicker to get around.
Behind it, everything now lives in one place. Shopify products and quote-only custom products used to sit in separate systems. We pulled them together in Sanity, a content management system, so the team manages every product, page and resource from there.
ArchGrille wanted a bit of magic on the new site. We spent time with them working out what we'd have to play with, and once we knew we could get 3D models of their products, we proposed a visualiser.
It's a 3D room where you place grilles on a wall and try different sizes, materials and finishes. Finishes matter a lot with metalwork, so we had each one photographed in high resolution and used the photos as textures on the models. Move your mouse and the wall moves with it, with light catching the metal as it turns.
The team love it. They use it themselves to find products, and they show it to customers. Phase 2 will add radiator covers and cabinet infill panels.
Asking for a quote used to mean printing a PDF, filling it in by hand, scanning it and sending it back.
We replaced that with a smart online form. It changes as you go, asking only for what's relevant to the options you've picked. Everything goes straight into Salesforce through a custom integration we built, so when a request reaches an estimator, the details are all there.
It's much faster for contractors and designers, and for the ArchGrille team sending back estimates.
