Landscape audits & benchmarking

Before designing anything, we look at who's doing it best. Not only your direct competitors, but anyone doing something clever with content, structure or technology.

Why we call it a landscape

The best ideas don't always come from your direct competitors, so we cast a wider net. If you're a workspace brand with several locations, it's worth seeing how hotels and restaurants handle the same challenge.

The aim isn't to copy what others are doing. It's to understand the patterns people already know, and spot the gaps where you can stand out.

What we look at

We review design, content, site structure and technical functionality. That covers navigation, conversion journeys and content hierarchy on screen, plus what's happening in the code behind it. The result is a 'best in class' baseline, which becomes the starting point for your project.

Benchmarks from your own data

Alongside the audit, we go through your existing analytics. That shows us which pages people value and which go unvisited. It also gives us baseline figures such as bounce rate (how many people leave after one page), time on site and how many people complete key journeys. Once the new site is live, those are the numbers to beat.

Creative discovery

The audit feeds our creative discovery. We gather references from across digital design and group them into 3 or 4 themed moodboards. Then we talk them through with you: what we love, what we don't, and what fits your brand. The goal isn't to pick one route. It's to blend the best of each.
